Solar Ceilings
This is a new skylight system designed for installation in homes with prefabricated truss roof systems. Because (by code) trusses cannot be cut or modified, they do not allow for the installation of a skylight wider than the 2' space between the trusses. This often does not allow for a large enough skylight nor an attractive light tunnel.
The solar ceiling is a grouping of 2' translucent light panels supported by an elegant custom moulding grid at the ceiling level. Above, a highly reflective light shaft transmits the sunlight down from a large skylight on the roof. By adding electrical lighting inside the tunnel, a dramatic nighttime effect can be achieved to add evening elegance. The result is a dramatic natural light system reminiscent of skylights found in grand cathedrals and luxurious hotels.
Designed originally to serve large foyer stairway areas in 2-storey homes, this system can be customized to suit almost any area. A single 2' panel can be used for smaller bathrooms, hallways and even walk-in closets.
By grouping 2' panels together in configurations of up to 10', the possibilities are endless for a grand design too suit your home.
